🎲 Random Map: The Skybridge Pass

Behind the Die by Charlie Stayton

“One wrong step, and you’ll fall into the clouds themselves.”

This week’s map is the Skybridge Pass, a treacherous stone span connecting two mountain ridges. Winds howl across its surface, and the ancient carvings along its edge hint at lost civilizations.

Map Features

  • The Bridge: 15 feet wide, 200 feet long, spanning a deep gorge. Some stones are cracked or missing.

  • Carvings: Reliefs of winged figures etched along the guardstones. Successful History check reveals this was once a pilgrimage route.

  • Shrine Midway: A small alcove with a broken statue, possibly dedicated to a forgotten wind-god.

Hooks

  1. The PCs must escort a caravan across the pass during a storm.

  2. Raiders have taken the shrine as a toll-collecting stronghold.

  3. The bridge is home to a creature of the winds (roc, air elemental, or harpy coven).

How to Use It

Perfect as a set-piece encounter during travel arcs — equal parts combat hazard and atmospheric storytelling.
