🔮 New Magical Item! Wand of Happy Little Accidents. 🔮

By Charlie Stayton, Behind the Die

Wand of Happy Little Accidents

Wand, rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)
This gnarled wooden wand is tipped with a soft brush, perpetually clean no matter how much paint is applied. When attuned, the wand allows the wielder to conjure spontaneous and often delightful results with the stroke of imagination.

Properties:
The wand has 7 charges and regains 1d6 + 1 expended charges daily at dawn.
While holding the wand, you can use an action to expend 1 charge and cast “Happy Little Accident.”

Happy Little Accident (Magical Effect)
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet

Components: V
Duration: Instantaneous

You flick or sweep the Wand of Happy Little Accidents at a point you can see within range, and roll on the Happy Little Accidents d20 Table. An object or whimsical creature appears there, shaped by the chaos of cheerful creativity.
The conjured result lasts for 1 minute, is harmless unless stated otherwise, and is clearly magical in nature. Any creature created is non-hostile and does not attack unless the DM rules otherwise for comic or narrative effect.

Happy Little Accidents – d20 Table

d20                                                                Effect

happy little tree sprouts in the space (AC 10, 10 HP, counts as half cover).

happy little cloud appears above and begins to sprinkle faint glittering mist. All creatures in a 10-ft radius have advantage on Charisma checks for 1 minute.

A flock of chirping happy little birds flies in a circle above. They distract nearby creatures—creatures within 10 feet must make a DC 13 Wisdom save or have disadvantage on Perception checks until the birds fly away.

canvas on an easel appears, with a painting of the current scene. If taken, it becomes a mundane painting worth 25 gp.

log cabin pops into existence, 5x5 feet, complete with tiny chimney and smoking pipe. It vanishes after 1 minute.

gentle mountain rises 5 feet high in difficult terrain (10-ft radius). It counts as difficult terrain for others but grants advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks when prone behind it.

happy little squirrel with an artist's beret appears. It offers snacks and mimics drawing with its tail.

bush with smiling faces grows rapidly. The next creature to step within 5 feet must succeed on a DC 13 Charisma save or burst into laughter (as Tasha’s Hideous Laughter, 1 round).

gently babbling brook trickles through, washing feet and calming nerves. All creatures in contact regain 1d4 hit points.

10

A patch of sunflowers wearing sunglasses sprouts, rotating to follow the nearest light source.

11

happy little critter (CR 0 or Tiny beast of your choice) appears and attempts to hug the nearest creature.

12

paintbrush tornado whirls in place for 1 round, applying random splashes of color to nearby objects and creatures. Harmless but messy.

13

rock with googly eyes and a mustache appears. It offers sage nods and wisdom when questioned.

14

tiny rainbow appears over a creature’s head. They gain +1 on all ability checks until it fades.

15

laughing tree stump tells a terrible pun (DC 15 Wisdom save or be incapacitated by laughter for 1 round).

16

floating landscape painting emerges and rotates slowly. Any creature looking at it gains inspiration (once) within the next hour.

17

cloud of pastel butterflies flutters out and grants advantage on the next Initiative roll within 10 minutes.

18

painter’s ladder to nowhere appears. Climbing it gives the user a brief moment of serenity, removing 1 level of exhaustion.

19

mystical forest portal opens momentarily; woodland music plays and closes with a soft breeze.

20

The scene becomes awash with magical light, and each ally within 30 feet gains 1d6 temporary hit points and +1 to saving throws until the end of their next turn.
